Welcome to Rosie’s Place!
Founded by Kip Tiernan in 1974 as the first women's shelter in the United States, we provide a safe and nurturing environment for every woman who comes to our door, and we help her take the next steps on her journey to security, dignity and opportunity.

Essential Services
Women living on the street know that they can come to Rosie’s Place to launder their clothes, take a shower, check their mail, use a telephone or computer and store their belongings in a locker.

Meals
Every day, hundreds of homeless women count on having a healthy breakfast, lunch or dinner in our bright and welcoming Dining Room.

Food Pantry
Our Food Pantry provides hundreds of women and their families with fresh meat, dairy, fruits, vegetables, non- perishable staples, household goods and personal care items every weekday.

Overnight Shelter
Our Overnight Program is open every day of the year, giving guests a warm, safe bed, three meals a day and enough time to get their footing so they can start to plan what comes next.

Women's Education Center
We provide hundreds of students with on-site and virtual classes in English for Speakers of Other Languages, literacy and technology to support their education and employment goals.

Advocacy
Multilingual advocates meet with guests on- site or connect via our Advocacy Helpline to assist with short and long-term needs, including housing and job search, wellness care, transportation and funds for rent and utilities.

Legal Program
Our Legal Program provides legal advice and consultations in the areas of housing, family, immigration, employment, debt and benefit law. Our Legal Advocates can meet guests on-site or remotely through our Legal Helpline.

Wellness
At our Wellness Center, guests have free access to health care providers and wellness resources. Staff help guests with routine care, injuries and skin wounds and medications and navigating a complex healthcare system.

Public Policy
Our Public Policy program not only advocates with state legislative and policy officials, but also works to engage guests in the democratic process on issues that directly affect their lives.
