How We Help

Whether a guest needs urgent assistance or long-term help with a complicated issue, our Advocates will be there for her, for as long as she needs us.

A one-on-one conversation with one of our multi-lingual Advocates is often is the first step for women who seek our help. Rather than asking intrusive questions or dictating what she should do next, an Advocate listens supportively and follows our guest’s lead. Our Advocates schedule more than 1,500 appointments with guests each month.

Our Advocacy Helpline receives as many as 100 calls daily from women who have lost their jobs and are unable to pay their rent and utilities until their unemployment benefits arrive; women late with rent whose landlords are threatening eviction; and women behind on mortgage payments fearful of losing homes they worked so hard to attain. We’ve increased our funding to meet this rapidly expanding need for financial assistance, and also work with our guests to create budgets and payment plans with management and utility companies.

Advocates can help with the following areas, and much more: 

  • Housing Search
    Rosie’s Place provides housing search specialists on-site who work with multiple agencies and organizations to help even the most hard-to-place women find housing.
  • Job Search
    Rosie’s Place’s employment specialist helps guests apply for, attain and maintain gainful employment in the community. She also provides educational workshops, connects guests with specialized job training programs and organizes job fairs.
  • Wellness Care
  • Groups
  • Transportation
  • Mental Health Counselor
  • Health Specialist
  • Emergency funds for back rent and utility arrearage bills
  • Referrals
