Thankful for All That We Receive
At Rosie’s Place, every day of the week our community thrives on giving. It’s the foundation and fuel for all that we do.
And now more than ever, as we confront this global pandemic and strive to provide shelter, sustenance and comfort to women with nowhere else to turn, it’s the generous spirit of our community that sustains us. We are thankful each day for all that we receive.
The resolve that our guests bring to each new day gives me hope. Each morning we welcome hundreds of homeless women, most by name, as they have come to depend on us for shelter, food and compassion. And they end each day with a “Thank you. See you tomorrow!” Their strength and resiliency motivates us, and their ability to find joy in small victories and gratitude in simple acts of kindness is humbling.
I’m bolstered by my colleagues who are constantly being asked to problem-solve and improvise. They never fail to give the best of themselves to our guests. And they never fail to make me proud to be part of this team that pitches in and pulls ahead together.
We’re given strength by the generosity and creativity of our friends. You make masks and send words of encouragement and donations of most-needed items that lift our spirits and remind us that we’re all in this together.
And I know, together, we will get through this. Despite what we may be missing during these daunting times, we have much to be grateful for. Indeed, it is all that you give us—gestures and gifts, big and small—that enable and inspire us to remain a constant for our guests.
Today, and every day, I give my heartfelt thanks for our incredible community. Thank you for standing alongside us.
P.S. If you are able to support our work to address the critical needs of our guests during this health crisis, we’d be most grateful.
