Judith's Story

In March of 2020, when we were all asked to shelter in place, the three-week stays of guests in our Overnight Shelter were extended indefinitely. Many of those 20 women stayed with us for more than a year. Judith is one such guest. While the pandemic stopped so much, it couldn’t slow
her down.

Over the course of her stay with us, Judith continued her ESOL classes, worked two essential jobs in healthcare and earned both her medical assistant certificate and citizenship. Her resilience and resolve will long be remembered by our staff who had the opportunity to form a special bond with her and all the guests who stayed with us for months during this unprecedented year.

Fully vaccinated, and with a bright future ahead, Judith is now working with our Housing Specialist to secure permanent housing.

Judith shared, “I thank everybody who helped me...I’m very grateful.”

And I in turn, am so grateful to you—our friends who have stood alongside us throughout the pandemic—giving to us so generously. Your gifts enable us to provide sanctuary, support and brighter tomorrows to Judith and thousands of other women in need, for as long as they need us.

With appreciation,
