Rosie’s Place’s food pantry looks like no other; it is in fact a small grocery store where our guests can shop for free. Through this program we welcome 1,800 women each month into our pantry to "shop" among our shelves, choosing 20-40 pounds of food that their families prefer and enjoy. This model ensures dignity by enabling shoppers to have choices. We know from long experience that one of the first losses a poor woman faces is the opportunity to choose for herself. At Rosie’s Place, we do all that we can to restore that opportunity.
Food pantry hours were recently expanded to include evening hours. This expansion accomodates more guests, including women who hold down a job during the day and were unable to come during our traditional morning schedule.
